it actually quite the opposite. the core is cooling as the earth gets older. the moon once had a active core with volcanoes and but its core cooled and solidified.the earths core doesn't effect surface temperatures greatly. the sun is the main temperature changer and green house gases( which basically trap the heat in the earths atmosphere). if our core solidified all geological systems would come to a stand still.
