Have you ever been hypnotised? How about hypnotherapy?

What was it like? I once went to a hypnotist stage show, and I was called on stage but I didn't get hypnotised and had to go off stage. So I'm wondering if it works. I was also curious about hypnotherapy to become more confident in myself. Anyone know anything about hypnotism or hypnotherapy?
