What is a Paradox of Value?

The paradox of value(also known as diamond-water paradox) is the contradiction that although water is on the whole more useful,in terms of survival,than diamonds, diamonds command a higher price in the market. In economic terms,water has very high utility, but very low marginal utility because of less scarcity than diamonds which have very high marginal utility and very low utility.
